The Gates of Aedolyn is a freeform play-by-post role playing game set in the fantasy world of Aedolyn. GoA is dedicated to always being a free online writing community with the interests of its members in mind. As a privately hosted domain, we also feature a Multiple Character System (MCS). This allows for members to have multiple character accounts under one primary account, so multiple accounts are not necessary.

The name ‘Gates of Aedolyn’ comes from the fact that there are five Gates across the land of Aedolyn and these Gates are what control, not only order and chaos, but also the flow of magic. The five Gates also act as portals to other points in time; this point is the same for all five gates and is controlled by the administration. This point changes, according to popular demand, once or twice a year. This time travel aspect is what makes this particular site unique; it allows for active influence by the members on the history of Aedolyn. The land is divided into nine nations with the exception of the Northeast Territories, each of which has its own board on the forum. For more information on the history, the people, the land or to browse our collection of maps just visit the Great Library.

Information in the library is a collective effort of all willing members making GoA a community in constant development. Participation in this aspect is not mandatory but strongly encouraged. Joining is simple and easy, simply click on the ‘Register’ button to the left and follow the instructions from there. We look forward to a growing and active community in the near future!

Okay, GoA, it took me a few days, but I've finally whipped up an advertisement for us. So, if you come across a good place to post a quick ad, please do not hesitate to do so. Any input about our ad or advertising is very welcome.
