Nívak Federation
Amid the vast and arid Nívak Desert is the Nívak Federation homeland of the legendary Sephria who is rumored to still rule her nation as the only remaining demigod of the Nine. The lands of Nívak are ancient and hold much more history than any other area of Aedolyn. Aratar, the holy land, is no longer inhabitable or crossable without previous knowledge. With the Angard Mountains to the south and the Bavkür Desert to the north, there are often brief clashes with neighbors which typically end in short brawls. The humans of the Nívak Desert are natural warriors and sailors. Zal’Garish, one of the oldest capitals, is a merchant town where people from the north and the south mingle without fear. |

Bavkür Alliance
A political and military alliance of all the northern countries make up the Bavkür Alliance, named after the dominating region, the Bavkür Desert. Like the Nívak Desert, a portion of the ancient lands of Aratar are located here, along with a highly populated mountain range, the land bridge to the Northeast Territories, and an expansive coastline allowing for domination of the Northern Sea. Orcs, Drow, Dracon, and Minotaur, among others, live in a relatively peaceful union. They have built a vast network of caves and tunnels under the harsh terrain centered on the two major cities of Morimaltë and Svaalgor Keep. Morimaltë is the ancient and forbidden city of the Drow and Svaalgor Keep is headquarters of the Bavkür Alliance and another major military hub of Aedolyn. |

Telgin Republic
On the northwest continent, the elusive Telgin Republic consists of three contrasting regions: the Telgin Moor, the Gaalvar Mountains, and the Sauvale Forest. Of all nine nationalities, Telgins are the masters of the magic arts; their infallible grace makes spotting a Telgin very easy. In general, they are withdrawn and prefer not to get involved with affairs that are not of their concern. The capital of Arador, often called “the city of a thousand bridges”, was built on a lake giving it a unique feel. There is a useful daily goblin freight balloon than takes passengers, for a fee, across the channel to Arador. The passage is stunning, exposing, from a bird’s-eye-view, the raw beauty of the Telgin Republic. |

The Kingdom of Nâvirfëll
Nâvirfëll is the largest and most prominent of the five woodlands of Aedolyn. It stretches a large portion of southern Aedolyn and it played a just as large role in Aedolyn’s history. The region itself is divided both geographically and socially; the northern Nâvirfëll Woodland is dominated by the pureblooded High Elves while the Illycia Darkwood is inhabited by mostly Low Elves, but others tend to prefer being out of the influence of the High Elves. The Illycia Darkwood was cursed during the Third Age, nothing will ever grow there again; therefore, the forest is slowly dying and being replaced by nothing. Nâvirfëll’s three political borders are all interesting places that contrast sharply with the deep interior woodland. |

The Kingdom of Bäros
Situated in the picturesque grassy heartland of Aedolyn is the Kingdom of Bäros, a military and political powerhouse. The Kingdom of Bäros is blessed with great natural protection, thus making it a key strategic location during times of war. Triam, at the heart of the Kingdom, is a glorious city filled with golden statues and monuments dedicated to ancient Kings and great victories. It is also the economic hub of the southern region of Aedolyn; its markets are rich with merchandise from every part of the world. Outside of the bustling capital, life is much slower and less extravagant. Simple yet happy peasants live simple yet hard lives among the rolling hills and flat seas of green. |

Angard Empire
The Angard Mountains naturally divide Aedolyn into the north and the south and are themselves considered neither. The interior divisions of the Angard Empire are complex but basically the Dwarves dominate the central regions where Gávalik and Fâlivrin rest and Orcs control the far east and west centered around Kval’tar and Mörag Camp. The relationship of Dwarves and Orcs in Angard is relatively stable and based around the principle of neutrality, a peaceful coexistence. The political system of Angard is not based on geographical terms, but instead on the influence of clans. Both Dwarves and Orcs operate under this system and it is generally and fairly managed, by both races, from the mutually accepted capital of Gávalik. |

Galstrom Alliance
Of the nine nations, the Galstrom Alliance is the most conflict-prone area. Modeled after the highly successful Bavkür Alliance, Galstrom simply was unable to hold such an alliance under one leader either because of the differences between its inhabitants or because of the weakness of Viscerra. It is easiest to describe the Galstrom Alliance as a ‘frozen conflict’; solutions could not be decided upon so therefore the status quo remained. It is not uncommon to hear of recent military clashes in Galstrom. Typically, the area is only travelled by natives who know the history and fragile circumstances; all others avoid it. The Orc-centered Haar and the Human/Drow-centered Dák’mitorë rival each other as the most prominent city. |

Mirodo Republic
Mirodo is the smallest of the Nine Nations and it also finds itself in the most unlucky of locations, at the convergence of six great nations: Telgin, Nívak, Bäros, Nâvirfëll, Angard, and Maelar. Noting this, Tólsimir, the patron of Mirodo protected his homeland with an enchantment. Only friends of Mirodo are able to pass through the forest safely, all others will be plagued by trials and foes from which few have emerged unharmed. Eysswë, the capital, is located on the bank of a great lake which is said to have mystical powers and hold ancient secrets. A significant percentage of the Elves and Fae of Mirodo live and thrive in the city mountain pass city of Fâlivrin which is located outside of Tólsimir’s sphere of protection. |

Maelar Trade Union
The Maelar Trade Union is the most isolated yet integrated region of Aedolyn. The goblins of Maelar have developed a vast and intricate social network across the entirety of Aedolyn. Trade posts of the Trade Union can be found almost everywhere, even in the least likely of places. The majority of goblins are not affiliated with the political system of Maelar, but instead act as independent merchants, mercenaries, and entrepreneurs; however they are notorious for being difficult. Goblins find it amusing to work against everyone and cause trouble. Maelar, although politically centered in Bargriv, operates out of Asglarek, the largest port city in Aedolyn which controls a vast amount of trade. While many regions don’t enjoy working with Maelar goblins, they have unfortunately become dependent on them for free trade. |

The Northeast Territories
The ungovernable Northeast Territories, while technically a province of the Bavkür Alliance, are so isolated from the governance and jurisdiction of Bavkür that they are often considered the ‘tenth nation’ represented not by a deity but by the free spirits of Aedolyn. The land has long passed its peak. The Turúva Forest was economic, political, and cultural center of the world during the Days of Aratar, but it has long since died. Now, half of the glorious Turúva Forest is a barren tundra and the other half is an overgrown and feared woodland littered with ruins and remnants of the past. The six species of Turuvkin now sparsely inhabit the Northeast Territories; the only known civilization left is the Molvarak city of Keldorak located among the Isles of Keldorak. |
